Letter from the Editor: What's missing? Return to Top
Katie Birmingham
First things first...THANK YOU for all of the ideas that came out of last months question: What's missing with SnagIt 9?

We had an absolutely overwhelming response with 175 posts.

"I'm honestly at a loss for words.  I'm absolutely humbled by the outpouring of feedback, gracious comments, and great ideas.  Making SnagIt a great product is clearly not only the responsibility of TechSmith, but something its users take ownership for.  I can't thank everyone enough for each and every word and can assure everyone that our entire team is reading each of these comments and together will determine when and how we can leverage these in a future release of SnagIt," -Tony Dunckel, SnagIt Product Manager

I could not have said it better myself. Your feedback is truly invaluable. If you missed it last month and want to check out what other SnagIt users had to say, click here.

As we were looking at the 175 comments, we realized that SnagIt already has some of the features being requested. Make sure you take a look at our tutorial this month. Chris made a video highlighting these features and how to use them. Maybe SnagIt already has the feature you're looking for!

User Tip: Share your notes Return to Top
Mark Clanton
If you are using Microsoft OneNote to keep yourself organized, you can compliment that use with SnagIt and share your notes with coworkers. See how SnagIt user Mark Clanton does it.

"I use Microsoft OneNote to organize my notes and I provide these to other employees for reference.  My OneNote pages contain all sorts of information, and I do not want everyone to see everything, so I use Snagit to capture just the specific note and I drop that into the body of an e-mail and send it out," says Mark
.

So what does Mark think about SnagIt 9? "I use SnagIt for so much stuff...I love SnagIt," he says.

Just another one of the million ways to use SnagIt.

News: Happy Birthday to Jing! Return to Top
Try Jing
On July 22nd, our little Jing Project celebrated its first birthday. Here at TechSmith, we joined the party by announcing that Jing is now an official product offering.

Don't worry, it's still free and we even increased the complimentary Screencast.com account that is included with Jing. How does 2GB of transfer bandwidth and 2GB of storage sound?

If you have not tried Jing, you are missing out. Visual communication in a matter of seconds. Pretty cool.

Like SnagIt, there are a million different ways to use Jing. Here is a user story highlighting one:

"Jing is great! I run a website for my family where we all have our own page. Most of the older family members are lost when it comes to anything relating to technology, so I used Jing to make tutorial videos for them. They found it really simple to use the videos as a guide. This saved me a ton of time. Instead of opening emails about how to use the site, it was emails about how easy it was after seeing the video. I think that Jing is fantastic and would recommend to anyone looking for an application like this."

We need your picture...again!

We wanted you to star in TechSmith's holiday card! Please send us a pic, starring you, with something that represents or is meaningful to you from your favorite holiday. Maybe it's a picture of you holding that a homemade Valentine or you with that homemade pie for Pi Day! We're looking for holidays throughout the year that are celebrated around the world.

For more info, like specs and how to submit your photo, visit Betsy's Blog.

And a quick thank you for those of you who participated last time we asked for photos. We received great shots of you with your I Love SnagIt sign. If you have not seen them yet, all of the photos are also on Flickr so take a look.

If you have been dreaming about what would make SnagIt perfect and left your advice last month about which features SnagIt is missing, today is your lucky day...hopefully.

Many of the features that were requested actually already exist. Chris went to the blog postings and directly responds to many of them in this video to show you how to use the feature you requested.

Spend 5 minutes on SnagIt goodness and see if the feature you want is already available.
