Now that you've had some time to play around with SnagIt 9, would you take a moment to tell us what it's missing?

You see, the SnagIt development team is already working on what's next. And many of SnagIt's best features start out as requests from people just like you.

So please jump over and leave a comment on this blog post telling us what you'd like to see in future editions of SnagIt. Feel free to say what you like most about SnagIt 9, too!

What's missing from SnagIt?

News: What are they saying about SnagIt 9? Return to Top
SnagIt 9

SnagIt 9 has been out for three weeks already. Here's what some folks have been saying about it...

SnagIt 9 is nearly a perfect 10
"Two weeks ago, I got an e-mail offering me an advance copy of SnagIt 9, embargoed until June 10. I installed it a few days later and tinkered with it a bit. Then I decided to use it to create the gallery of step-by-step instructions accompanying my 10 top Vista tweaks series.

"What most impressed me about this upgrade was how simpler it makes the process of capturing and creating illustrations. ...it would have taken easily three times as long to accomplish this job with SnagIt 8. What I like most about this upgrade is that it didn't try to shovel new features into a program that was already pretty feature-packed. Instead, the interface changes made it easier for me to find and work with features the program already had." (More...)

—Ed Bott, ZDNet blogger and former PC World editor

SnagIt 9 Is Released and Ready for Download
"I use SnagIt just about every day for grabbing screen captures of samples for presentations, articles, my book, sending images to clients, and for blogging. It plugs right into the Office suite of products and IE, too. I usually don't extol the virtues of a product so blatantly, but I really love this tool." (More...)

—John Papa, Microsoft C# MVP

{Please note: SnagIt has a Firefox extension, too.}

New SnagIt 9 Just Gets Better
"It is difficult for me to imagine that there have been significant enhancements to SnagIt. I thought it had pretty much reached its zenith, but SnagIt 9 manages to improve an already superb product that captures screen shots of all kinds in a flash." (More...)

—Tim Hillebrand, Mobility Site

"If you need an all guns blazing screen-capture and editing application, you can't get better than Techsmith SnagIt 9.0." (More...)

—Matt Egan, PC Advisor

Don't get too busy having fun this summer and forget to upgrade...the 20% discount on regular single-user upgrades ends August 12.

User Tip: Put photos on your iPod (or other device) Return to Top
portable device graphic
Newsletter reader Jon Battle, "a SnagIt user since v1.0," sent in this tip for using SnagIt to grab images and put them on your portable media device...without the hassles.

I have an iPod Touch which shows imagery crystal clearly. As I browse the web, there are always images and clips that I want to keep and see again. I Snag them (using Region and File Save) and save them directly (no preview) to the directory where my iPod pulls images from. Next time I sync my iPod – these images are copied to my iPod. Simple!!

What a great way to capture photos of your grandkids, vacation—or maybe an article you want to finish later—and take them with you!

I recorded a 1-minute Jing video (silent) showing how to set up a custom capture profile like Jon's.
Want to know more about building your own captures? See the tutorial in our Learning Center...

So what does Jon think about SnagIt 9? "...it's awesome," he says.

Why do we call them rectangles when they're squares? I have no idea. But don't let that stop you from using them!

Tutorial: Add effects to your image during capture Return to Top

Chris McQueen, Instructional Designer

When working on a particular project, do you change every capture to grayscale or add the same drop shadow edge effect?

If you find yourself needing to apply the same effects to a series of captures...there's a better way than editing each one. Add the effects during capture. Effortlessly!

This tutorial shows you how...
