We've run reader surveys in all the other TechSmith newsletters (did you know about the others?) and now it's your turn...
Please complete the seven-question survey: tell us which sections of the SnagIt newsletter you like best, which you could do without, and how we could make it better.
The goal is simple: to publish a newsletter that you can't wait to read when it hits your inbox every month. We believe it's a privilege to have your attention...and we intend to keep earning it.

When radiologists at Cincinnati Children's Hospital need to print out an x-ray to take into the operating room, or capture part of an MRI for teaching purposes...they use SnagIt!
Laurie Perry, radiology business systems analyst at the hospital, says, "We have been using SnagIt since 2000 on all of our workstations where radiologists read imaging exams."
Because SnagIt captures whatever is on the screen, it's more powerful than a simple image export. |
 |
Using a set of custom profiles created by Laurie's team, radiologists just hit a key to capture only part of the screen (maintaining patient confidentiality), print images directly to paper, save images to a network drive, and even capture print-ready images for publication in a textbook or journal. [Links point to tutorials on these topics.]
Read Laurie's story for some ideas about how SnagIt can bridge the gap between new technology and existing processes in your workplace...

Kenneth Clark, a retired IT and MIS manager, wrote in with this helpful tip:
"I use Quicken 2007 for all of my financial recordkeeping. This version allows you to attach receipts to each transaction.
"When I purchase things on the Internet, I use SnagIt to capture the receipt of the transaction to the Windows Clipboard, open Quicken, and paste it to the transaction. In addition, if they send me an email with purchase and 'activation' info, I also copy that to the transaction in Quicken."
If you find yourself wading through a mountain of paper receipts (yes, it's tax season in the U.S.) SnagIt screen capture just might provide a better way...
Have a SnagIt tip or how-to idea? Send it to us, and you could be featured in the newsletter!

Bloggers love to talk about new tools they've discovered or how to combine them in handy, new ways. Here are our top picks from recent posts about SnagIt on independent (not TechSmith) blogs:
Take notes with SnagIt and MindManager
"I've been getting training on a new, to me, mapping/demographics application...To record items of particular interest, rather than paper notes, I tried using the SnagIt/MindManager combination live in the training session. It was great to grab quick screen-shots, add process notes/arrows and send them to my MindManager notes map with SnagIt’s MindManager Custom Output Tool."
Capture design patterns or collections of interface designs
Blogger Richard Wand shows how he uses SnagIt's scrolling capture and Flickr output to collect screenshots of various ecommerce Web sites. He also links to a few such galleries, including his own collection of 68 examples of online product display.
Using SnagIt (instead of Photoshop) for screen capture
"...so along comes my colleague who tells me about SnagIt...less clicking and fingerwork and my task is cut down by say... 75%."

Not long after I started at TechSmith someone asked about paste mode in SnagIt and I probably had the same thought you do, "what's paste mode?"
You see, paste mode is really one of those features you have to watch in action to understand. Our own Kelly Mullins showed me and now I pass this gem of knowledge on to you. And, once you see it, you get it, and then a whole new world of possibilities opens up.
It's the biggest little feature SnagIt has. |
