When radiologists at Cincinnati Children's Hospital need to print out an x-ray to take into the operating room, or capture part of an MRI for teaching purposes...they use SnagIt! Laurie Perry, radiology business systems analyst at the hospital, says, "We have been using SnagIt since 2000 on all of our workstations where radiologists read imaging exams." Because SnagIt captures whatever is on the screen, it's more powerful than a simple image export.

Using a set of custom profiles created by Laurie's team, radiologists just hit a key to capture only part of the screen (maintaining patient confidentiality), print images directly to paper, save images to a network drive, and even capture print-ready images for publication in a textbook or journal. Kenneth Clark, a retired IT and MIS manager, wrote in with this helpful tip:

"I use Quicken 2007 for all of my financial recordkeeping. This version allows you to attach receipts to each transaction.

"When I purchase things on the Internet, I use SnagIt to capture the receipt of the transaction to the Windows Clipboard, open Quicken, and paste it to the transaction. In addition, if they send me an email with purchase and 'activation' info, I also copy that to the transaction in Quicken."

Take notes with SnagIt and MindManager

Using SnagIt (instead of Photoshop) for screen capture

SnagIt OneClick truly gives you the power to perform a capture in one click. When you select one of your Capture Profiles from the lists in SnagIt OneClick, SnagIt immediately takes the capture and sends it to the designated output.

Notice that the OneClick screen looks very similar to the List View of the Profiles pane located within SnagIt's main interface. OneClick contains the Capture Profiles located in the SnagIt Profiles pane.

Tip: Any profiles or hotkeys created within SnagIt are automatically updated to OneClick.


To enable SnagIt OneClick, select Turn on OneClick in SnagIt's Related Tasks area. OneClick appears as a blue bar along the edge of your monitor, and then it "hides" until you select or hover over that location again.

OneClick takes the capture and hides from view until you need it again.

Tip: If you select a profile with the Capture Preview window option enabled, the output is sent directly to the Capture Preview window for viewing and editing.
