TechSmith Delivers SnagIt 6.0 as Industry's Top Screen-Capture Software Adds Unparalleled Web-Capture Capabilities

Web Developers, Documentation Specialists and Gamers to Realize Enormous Benefits from New Support for DirectX, Ability to Capture Multiple Web Images Simultaneously

East Lansing, Michigan, November 12, 2001 -- TechSmith Corp., the leading provider of screen capture technology for more than a decade, today introduced SnagIt 6.0, the newest version of the world's most popular software package for screen capture and image manipulation with more than 3.5 million users. The enhancements in version 6.0 give SnagIt an unsurpassed suite of image-capture capabilities for the Internet and interactive applications, including PC games.

SnagIt 6.0 is the first screen-capture software that enables users to capture every image on a Web page simultaneously, as well as capture images on pages linked to the primary page. The time savings and simplicity are breakthroughs for researchers, documentation specialists, and business professionals who enhance sales and marketing presentations with Web content.

Also new to SnagIt is support for DirectX, the dominant imaging technology for the multi-billion-dollar gaming industry. In the past, it has been nearly impossible for game developers and players to capture DirectX images, and the few available solutions would downgrade game performance significantly. SnagIt has eliminated this problem by allowing real-time screen captures of all dynamic images. In addition to gaming, DirectX is a popular technology for a wide range of graphics-intensive software, such as computer-aided design (CAD).

DG Systems (Nasdaq: DGIT) is using SnagIt to market its CoolCast network, which is able to deliver television programming to broadband Internet subscribers. "We've been using SnagIt since CoolCast launched," said Chuck Wagner, Director of Network Development for CoolCast. "I get e-mails and calls every day from clients and potential clients asking me to show them what they'll see on their PCs. That's where SnagIt comes in. We use it for demo CDs, sales presentations, and quick captures that we can send via e-mail. When we recently aired the nation's first local television feed for PC users, we got people's attention by using SnagIt to show them exactly what our technology would look like on the desktop. SnagIt is a vital tool in helping us convey the power of CoolCast."

Other important new features in SnagIt 6.0 include enhanced image filters to produce crisper graphics, and the ability to capture layered windows. An example of a layered window is an on-screen agent, such as the "Clippy" character in Microsoft Office. SnagIt 6.0 also includes a zoom capability to give users greater visibility into the fine details of captured images.

System Requirements and Availability
SnagIt 6.0 has earned the "Designed for Windows XP" logo, and it supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows ME. SnagIt 6.0 is available immediately with a suggested retail price of $39.95. The software can be purchased at http://www.techsmith.com.
